“A man and a woman united in marriage form a family together with their children. God instituted the family and endowed it with its fundamental constitution. Marriage and the family are ordered to the good of the spouses and to the procreation and education of children” (Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church 456).
The Office of Marriage and Family Life strives to nurture, defend and foster holy families to bring about “the civilization of love” (Letter to Families 13). To accomplish this goal, the office of Marriage and Family Life provides resources and support to pastors and the faithful of the Diocese of Gary within the areas of marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, natural family planning, and pro-life efforts.
