Bishop Noll Kicks off it’s Centennial Weekend with a celebratory Mass
September 16, 2021 - Hammond, IN. - Bishop Noll Institute kicked off it’s Centennial weekend on Thursday with an all-school outdoor Mass celebrated by Bishop Robert J. McClory.
The weekend of celebration started with mass and will run through Sunday night bringing students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends together to celebrate such a monumental moment -the 100-year anniversary of Bishop Noll Institute.
“The first couple of minutes were a little surreal because I remember myself as a student sitting in an all-school Mass,” said Class of 1983 alum Jeff Cipowski, who joined other alumni for the Mass. “Sitting there today, in that beautiful environment, with all those kids basking in the sun taking in the incredible occasion we are a part of today is very inspirational.”
Principal Lorenza Pastrick is grateful to celebrate such an incredible milestone.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate what God has given us in Northwest Indiana and do it together,” she said.
Though the years have come and gone, Bishop Noll Institute President Paul Mullany said some things remain the same.
“The mission of what we do never changes,” he said. “The mission of educating people in mind, body, and soul here has been constant through the years.”
Reflecting on the long history of Bishop Noll, Dr. Joseph Majchrowicz, Superintendent of Catholic Schools shared, “Born out of the end of the Spanish Flu and First World War, this institution went on to survive WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, the financial crisis of 2008 and a raging global pandemic. Yet, Bishop Noll has remained a constant education beacon for all to see.”
