On May 2, 2025, St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Whiting, Indiana, will celebrate the Catholic Culture and Bluegrass’s deep roots in the Region, with a concert by Fr. Justin Bolger, OP, and Fr. Simon Teller, OP, of the Hillbilly Thomists at St. Mary Hall at 2002 Davidson Place, Whiting, Indiana.

After a set, they will be joined by Dr. Jennifer Newsome Martin, de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame, for a conversation about their music, catholic culture, and Whiting’s unique imprint on it.  Culture and Bluegrass music’s stems from Region, with some of the oldest Churches in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland and the beginnings of Bill Monroe’s musical career. Join us for a drink, a song, a conversation, and compline to finish out the night.
