Have you ever felt God gently inviting you to something more, to step out in faith, to serve with love, and to encounter Christ in a deeper, life-changing way?

We joyfully invite you to prayerfully discern joining the 2026 Missionary Service and Pilgrimage to Mexico City, organized by the Diocese of Gary, Office of Missionary Discipleship and Evangelization, in partnership with Hope of the Poor, a Catholic missionary organization dedicated to serving those who live in extreme poverty and experience the deep wounds of being unseen and forgotten.

This is more than a trip. It is a mission, a pilgrimage, and an encounter with Christ.

While in Mexico City, missionaries will serve face-to-face with brothers and sisters living on the margins of society, including those who reside on the streets and in the most vulnerable conditions. Through presence, listening, prayer, and acts of mercy, we will seek to recognize Christ in those we serve and allow His love to transform our own hearts.

As part of the pilgrimage, the group will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe nearly every day. These visits are not excursions, but sacred moments of prayer, reflection, and surrender. In mission, we serve with our hands; at the Basilica, we offer our hearts to our loving Mother.

Missionaries will live in community with the Sisters of the Conceptionist Missionaries, alongside the Hope of the Poor team. Each day will be rooted in prayer, shared meals, formation, reflection, fellowship, and concrete acts of love and mercy. Together, the group will experience the beauty of missionary life and the joy of walking as one community of faith.

The mission is open to adults out of high school, 18 years of age or older, who feel called to:

  • serve with compassion and humility
  • grow spiritually through prayer and reflection
  • live simply and in community
  • be open to personal transformation

No prior mission experience is required, only a willing heart and openness to God’s call.
