The Catholic Diocese of Gary is hiring a News & Advertising Administrator. This position coordinates the daily operation of the NWI Catholic news site, which primarily serves the faithful in Lake, Porter, LaPorte and Starke counties. This role works closely with the communications manager to create and post stories reflecting diocesan communication strategy to share meaningful, accurate content that informs, inspires and engages readers. Additionally, this position works closely with the digital media strategist to coordinate advertising for the website and weekly diocesan digital newsletter.
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, detail‐oriented and able to work collaboratively with little supervision. The position requires the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously so candidates must have a positive “can do” perspective toward project work.
Candidates must have a functional knowledge of collaborative tools such as Google and Microsoft 365 and a proven ability to efficiently manage news website operations including story writing and editing according to AP and Catholic style guides, coordinating advertising and content schedules and a basic understanding of graphic design tools such as Canva. The candidate will preferably have a bachelor’s degree in communications or a similar field. The preferred team member will desire to share the joy of the Gospel through a Catholic lens.
