Dozens of St. Catherine of Siena members, former parishioners and school alumni gathered for the parish's final Mass, presided by Bishop Robert J. McClory Sunday afternoon in Hammond.
Established in 1956, St. Catherine served the Hessville neighborhood.
Bishop McClory quoted St. Catherine of Siena in his homily, "I am consumed with the desire to suffer for the glory of God and the salvation of souls and for the welfare of the Holy Church."
