Position Summary of Duties:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all physical aspects of the church/parish center as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, the Pastor/Administrator, or his designee. Setting up facilities for various functions.
Summary of Major Responsibilities and Regular Activities
- The Custodian has the responsibility of keeping the church, narthex and hallways, offices, meeting rooms, parish hall, and their furnishings clean.
- The Custodian will also assist the Maintenance Supervisor in identifying, and when appropriate executing, needed repairs.
- The Custodian will prepare and clean rooms after an event.
- The Custodian will complete regular cleaning of windows and stripping and waxing of floors.
Some Additional Responsibilities
- Attend to lawn and landscape care and snow removal as assigned.
- Maintain building security.
- Maintain a cost-effective inventory of supplies and tools.
- Always maintain and follow safe working procedures for yourself and the public.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Skills: Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
Education and/or Experience: Trade school or High School equivalent; Custodial experience preferred
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, finger, talk, reach, feel, climb, grasp, kneel, hear and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Independently lifts and moves items up to 50 pounds.
Job Conditions: Work is performed mostly in the building and on the parish grounds Monday through Friday in conjunction with the hours needed to provide for the environment for staff, parishioners, and guests. Employee may be required to attend evening or weekend events. Wears appropriate clothing and safety gear.
Supervisor: The Custodian reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or his designee as immediate supervisor.
Supervises: Volunteers and others as directed by the Pastor/Administrator or the Maintenance Supervisor.
