The Office of the President has as its primary purpose to provide overall leadership and vision for Catholic Central High School to achieve the fullest attainment of the school’s unique Catholic mission. Catholic Central is an inclusive community rooted in the Catholic faith that prepares servant leaders for a Christ-centered life. As the Chief Executive Officer of the school the President will lead in the Church’s mission to evangelize and make decisions viewed through the lens of the Catholic faith. 

The President is appointed and delegated authority by the Superintendent after consultation with the Board of Directors. The President also serves as the administrative officer to the Board of Directors. The President reports to and is evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools with input from the Board of Directors.

As overall leader, the President serves as a role model for staff and students and bears responsibility for the integration of faith and learning within the school including the articulation of philosophy, mission, vision, and the profile of the graduate at graduation. These documents are developed in consultation and collaboration with the school Principal.

The President has primary responsibility for institutional advancement, business operations, long-range strategic planning, Board relations, and community relations. The President oversees the academic affairs and student affairs through the building Principal, ensuring a high-quality college preparatory high school experience in an atmosphere of mutual trust, respect, and collaboration.

The President is responsible for the successful overall operation of the school through effective marketing for image, enrollment, and resources as accomplished through effective planning and delegation of responsibilities to administration, faculty, staff, and volunteers.

Accountability:

  • The President is accountable to the Superintendent of Schools and ultimately to the Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids
  • The President is accountable to the Board of Directors and serves as administrative officer
  • The President’s overall performance is evaluated annually by the Diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools acting for the Bishop with input from the Board of Directors

Supervises:

Building Principal, Director of Admissions, Communications, Advancement, Athletics, Dining Services, and Building and Grounds.

Member of:

Ex officio member and Administrative Officer of the Board of Directors and all committees; and must be an ex officio member of the Finance Committee, the Advancement Committee, and the Marketing Committee; and leads the administrative team.

Requirements:

  • Committed, active and practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Master’s Degree
  • Five years of proven Leadership experience
  • Two years demonstrated experience of successful financial decision making, budgeting, and fiscal management
  • Advanced degree in Business Management and or Administrative Certification preferred
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Diocesan Catechetical Certification within two years, and an advanced Catechetical Certification within five years
  • The position requires night and/or weekend commitments. May require travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
