GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Works under the general supervision of the Pastor of St. Bridget Parish.  Is responsible for the general maintenance of all buildings on the parish grounds i.e., church, school, parish center, rectory and parking facility.  General maintenance includes but is not limited to mowing the lawn, snow removal from church sidewalks and entrance ways as dictated by the weather.  The maintenance work here involves both repair and preventative maintenance and includes outsourcing when necessary.  Creates maintenance material lists, time lines, analyzes cost and communicates such to appropriate personnel.

Maintains professional standards of the church when dealing with vendors, contractors, office personnel and any other involved in church activity.  Supervises any part-time maintenance help.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains all electrical and electrical related devices, similarly performs the same for all mechanical related equipment.  Maintains all HVAC units and associated equipment.  Maintains inventory of spare parts and initiates procurement of replacement supplies and equipment as necessary; makes cost and material estimates; collects data for preventive maintenance system and maintains activity logs.  Completes work orders and reports as needed.

Employee(s) are expected to perform at a professional level of proficiency.  Employee must lead by example and subscribe to the highest level of both moral and ethical standards while dealing with associates, parish staff, students, parishioners, vendors, contractors, et. al.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:  electrical mechanical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning.  Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.

REQUIRED ABILITIES

Must be able to perform the work required in most cases.  In those cases where the scope of work exceeds the abilities the Maintenance Generalist, communicates the problem to the Pastor and plan an alternative to remedy the situation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Significant and verifiable craft experience in maintenance either mechanical or electrical.  Formal trade school or craft training in chosen craft. Work experience in electrical or mechanical field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be capable of performing physical and mental work consistent with the work described.  Uses various hand tools both mechanical and electrical.
